lovely short film on letterpress

A friend just sent me the link to this short doco on letterpress, by filmmaker Danny Cooke. It's beautifully shot and well worth a look for anyone interested in the process. Like most modern letterpress studios, we use photopolymer plates to print our work (not metal type as shown in the film), but the rest of the process is pretty much what you see here. Painstaking, meticulous and a true labour of love, letterpress printing is not for the faint-hearted (or the impatient). But that is exactly why we love it - it really does create something that can't be achieved with any other printing method. There is nothing like that crisp impression into soft cotton paper!

recent work : sarah & anthony

We just received a lovely email from Sarah and Anthony, a couple whose stationery we designed for their November 2011 wedding. We created their 'day of' stationery in our Avignon design, including placecards and order of service booklets, customised to match their wedding colours of chocolate brown and moss green.

Sarah was kind enough to email through these photographs of how it all looked on the day. I love the twine that she's used to bind the booklets together - it adds a great rustic touch and makes a nice alternative to ribbon.

Working with all our brides via email, we rarely get the chance to meet clients in person, so it was lovely also to receive a photo of Sarah and Anthony, and put a face to the name!Congratulations Sarah and Anthony, and thanks for sending through your photos - it made our weekend! x

recent work : sally & michael

A few months ago we had the pleasure of designing this custom letterpress wedding suite for the lovely Sally and Michael. With their ceremony and reception to be held at the gorgeous Terrara House Estate, Sally and Michael wanted a romantic design to suit their spring wedding.

We created a 'birds and blossoms' design, printed in two-colour letterpress for the invitation - a soft rose pink and matte silver - and just one colour (matte silver) for the accommodation insert card and matching reply card, all printed onto ivory cotton paper. Paired with rose pink envelopes, this set is pure romance.

recent work : chantel & clement

Recently we had the pleasure of designing Chantel and Clement's wedding invitation - our popular Jardin design, customised to match their wedding colours of lavender and grey. The invitations were flat printed onto our lovely ivory eggshell paper, with ivory cotton envelopes to match. The end result is simple, pretty and romantic.
